In 2004 she suffered one which left her right side paralysed. My mom has suffered one confirmed and 2 minor strokes or TIA's over the last few years. Sometimes that is your reason for the excessive secretions.ĭear friends, Its a trying time when we or our loved ones are afflicted with such a cruel condition. my answer is check the meds your relative is on and the side effects against each other. We weened her off of the strong meds so she could stay awake to do the theory. home health also helped her to get walking back. She did not get that done until we got her to my sister's house where we got her home health speech therapy. But his place never tried to help mom to talk again. To me, When they saw that her cognitive ability was in tact, they should have moved on to lessons on how to form words and how to make sounds, like " Cain Creek" which is where we took mom when she had a stroke in 2011. She was place in ICU for a few days and when she came out. She lost her voice because her mouth and back of her head swelled up and she lost the ability to walk all with in approx. had combined with her old meds and made her appear to be having another stroke. But in fact she fell asleep ans lost her balance. But, by that evening we walked her to the bathroom fine, but coming back to the bed, she passed out. she ate supper there that night and breakfast the next morning. They admitted her her and change her meds. We took her to a hospital for test and it came back with high cholesterol, but every thing else negative. She started having some sore throat issues that made her sound: when talking, similar to when her stroke happened. My mother recovered from a stroke that was on her right side, but after a two years of theropy.
